The End of an Era
Yesterday was overcast, drizzly, and cold. The bursts of wind that chilled to the bone were carrying away the leaves from the trees. And my friend Liz completed her last day here at work and moved away to Philadelphia. It was the kind of day that forced you to realize that summer is over and winter is on the way. That the days of perpetual darkness were coming and the sunny days were going away. And with Liz moving on as well, it really felt sad. She has been my coworker and friend for 9 years. She was my Maid of Honor at my wedding. She was a big part of why coming to work was fun. (And she is probably reading this now and saying "Oh please, stop")! It just seemed like the appropriate weather for the end of an era. I wish her all the best in her new life but she will be missed for sure.
