A Piece of Humble Pie

I have been trying to teach the kids about healthy and non-healthy foods recently. I have been trying to restrict the trips to Mc.Donalds to once a week as a treat after gymnastics or preschool. And I thought it was great when Lacey got a V-Motion video game system that included a game involving only picking up the healthy foods and leaving the unhealthy foods alone. So I spent a lot of time explaining how eating Mc.D's all the time can be bad for your body and your heart. Yadda yadda yadda...you get the picture. So imagine my delight at Lacey's response when we went to the bank (right next to Mc.D) and Nate starts pointing and grunting happily at the mere sight of it.

L: "We're not going there today, nathan".
N: "Why"? (But he says it like whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, really long and drawn out)
L: "Because it's not healthy".
N: "Why"?

Now at this point I start patting myself on the back for FINALLY getting through. She recognized that it's not healthy and didn't join in to the begging! What a GREAT mom I am! What a wonderful teacher! YIPPEE!!

L: "Because my game says so".

And there you have it. Well, I guess it doesn't taste as bad as I thought it would, the humble pie, that is.
