Homeschooling *Edited*

After much thought, Matt and I have decided to home school. But not in the traditional sense. Pennsylvania has a very interesting Cyber Charter School Program where your kids stay at home and learn through interactive live computer classroom sessions and optional field trips. It's free. And all the materials are provided to you. For grades K-4, you teach them yourself based on the curriculum they send you. After grade 4, they are required to learn by a teacher through the online classroom. It's the best of both worlds. I tell ya...PA really takes education to the next level. I get to have the benefit of homeschooling and having them really take-off in learning at light speed pace compared to public school kids AND they also get the teacher influence and classroom/peer influence as well WITHOUT the worries of negative distractions and "No Child Left Behind Dumb-Down Education" (as I like to call it). It's the neatest thing and is very cutting edge.

Edited to Add: OK, last night we were driving past the High School and I saw that they were having a game or something. And I got to thinking about games and proms and other school function things that Lacey would miss out on and started to feel sad for her. How do you make such a choice and be ok with it? I am considering either starting her in public school to see how it goes first OR giving her the choice to go back into public school when she reaches high school level. Every time I think I have made a firm decision, doubt creeps into my mind.
