Matt cut Lacey's splint off last Wednesday so she could participate in "Water Day" at school that Friday. She wasn't crawling right for a few days since she had gotten used to crawling on that hand with her knuckles. So when she did it now, her hand and arm would crumple under and she'd keep flopping over. So she was crawling like a gimp. It's hard to explain. I felt awful. But luckily, she has learned to put her hand down flat and crawl normally again.
Incidently, Lacey does not like water. She was very unhappy with Water Day at school and didn't like her first exposure of the year to the pool either. During Water Day, they turn on the sprinkler and they said she ran through it one time and then ran away crying. She didn't want anything else to do with it. She cried and tried to crawl back up me when I took her in the pool the next day also. She loves the bathtub though, so I can only assume it's the cold water she doesn't like.
On Sunday, my neighbor was having a BBQ and invited us over so I took Lacey in her swimsuit. They had a tiny little plastic baby pool that a little boy just 2 months older than her was prancing around in. Lacey had no desire to even get near it. She wouldn't even come out of my lap. After 30 minutes of her running around everywhere except the pool, I changed her into her clothes and called it a bust.
We tried again yesterday in the pool since the surface temp was about 10 degrees higher. She got a little upset at first but Matt quickly distracted her with chasing down the ball in the pool and putting her in her little boat, so she was laughing pretty soon. I want to keep exposing her a lot so she gets used to it.
