Fathers Day Fun!

Lacey and daddy had a great time yesterday for Father's Day. As his present, I let him sleep in while I got up with Lacey at 6AM and made French Toast. When he finally rolled out of bed at 830, I had just put Lacey down for her nap and so he got to have a nice relaxing breakfast and I started to take a nap myself. But her nap was short and I was quickly jerked away since it took me so long to fall asleep. Well, he was nice and returned the favor by taking her to Home Depot with him and allowing me to take a nice long nap and a nice long shower uninteruppted and unrushed. So it was a great morning for both of us! Then, Lacey gave him his present that she made at school. It was blocks that spelled out Daddy and there was a Superman figure glued on top so that it was a SuperDaddy kind of thing. He really thought that was neat. He loves everything that she makes for him.

Afterwards, we went to Matt's mom's house for a Fathers Day cookout, but it was so hot that Lacey couldn't really spend much time outside because I feared she'd start sweating under her splint and be uncomfortable. Poor kid watched all the other kids in the pool and didn't move from her spot for 15 minutes or so and I felt bad for her that she couldn't join in the fun. Matt dipped her feet in later on but she didn't seem to care for the cold water. I hope that once she gets her splint off that she can enjoy the pool, but I think that she'll be a princess and not like it. Her naps were short and sporadic throughout the day. We just had to fit them in when we could and she didn't end up going to sleep for good until 10pm when we got home. But we have crabs and cake to eat tonight! I wonder if she'll still like crabs. She did several months ago but she's pretty picky now. Maybe I'll just keep them for myself...heh heh...they don't come cheap you know!

While we were getting ready to leave, her cousins (ages 1 and 3) had a little baby Elmo radio and were playing songs and dancing. Lacey joined in and it was so cute to see the three of them dancing together. I wish I would have gotten pictures of that.

So it was a great and long day overall. I wish they made these holidays on Saturdays so you didn't have to get right back into work afterwards.
