The Haircut
Last night, I took Nate to his second attempt at a professional haircut. We only went once before and the result was disastrous. His haircut was uneven and the woman stabbed herself with her scissors. After that, we decided to use our whirlpool tub as our personal salon. Matt would hold his arms and legs and I would use the buzz cutter to trim his hair. Sometimes it turned out, sometimes not. The third time we tried this, I offered him a lollipop for his good behavior and he actually stayed pretty still and we got a decent haircut. So I had this bright idea to try the same technique at the professional place. But Nate is no dummy and no amount of reward in the world was getting him in that chair. So I sat in it with and apron on and he sat on my lap without one and screamed his way through a haircut. He was covered in hair and rubbing it in his mouth and eyes. It was horrendous. And it was ridiculously cold outside so he had to wear his hairy shirt home. But she gave them both froggy masks and it was like ALL was forgotten in an instant. I wonder if he'll remember the prize next time and be more willing? But at least no one got stabbed.
