The Birthday Party

(Pictures to be posted soon).... Lacey's first-of-many birthday parties was on Saturday. We kept it very small and intimate with just immediate family and Liz, who came down from Philly with her boyfriend Thom. It was a lot of fun. Lacey wasn't sure what do do with the cake at first. She is so dainty. She just would stick her fingertips in and collect a little icing and lick it off. Finally, to get the ball rolling , I shoved her hand into it. From there, things got good and messy! Then, she must have been on a sugar high or something because she just sat there and stared into space for a while. It was hysterical.

She was a perfect hostess. She shared all her toys without fussing or being possessive. She allowed mommy to hold and play with other babies. I guess some good things come out of being enrolled in daycare. She received a bunch of new toys and some new clothes that are still a bit big. She is one week away from being 12 months old and still is too small for most 12 month sized outfits!! But when she fits into them a little better, they will be really cute on her. Her favorite toys of all were the mylar balloons that I got her. She was having a great time punching them and just laughed and laughed as they bopped her in the face.

After the cake, Matt wanted to dress her in one of her Christmas dresses. It was only after we started opening her gifts and taking pictures that I realized that they would look like Christmas pictures! He even had her Santa hat on! Oh well.

At 3pm, it was clear that she needed a nap, so I put her down. She slept for 2 hours! I had to wake her up at 5pm because we needed to go out to dinner with Liz and Thom.

All in all, it was a great time. Lacey has been happily playing with all her new toys. We get to do it all again next week for Christmas!
